What should a tradie quote include?
A useful quote should make it reasonably clear what you are paying for. Two prices are difficult to compare when one includes work, materials or preparation that the other leaves vague.
Start with the scope
Look for a clear description of the work, areas or quantities covered, materials or product specifications where relevant, preparation, labour and obvious exclusions. Check whether removal, disposal, access, protection or making-good work is included where those items matter.
Check the commercial details
Identify the business you are dealing with, the total price or pricing method, GST treatment where relevant, deposit and progress-payment terms, expected timing and how variations are handled. For regulated building work, additional contract requirements may apply.
Do not compare only the bottom line
